The reprocessing of vintage 2D seismic data with the use of the most advanced Omega tools is likely to contribute to success of the project.

Polish National Geothermal Congress

On the 22nd of September the GK Processing employees attended the Polish National Geothermal Congress. This year the event was organised in the online version due to the pandemic restrictions and was meant to highlight the major geothermal issues in the form of trailer of the main congress that was postponed to the next year. The event was divided into three panels. During the first panel the experts presented the major facts and figures concerning the development of geothermal energy in Poland and Europe. The second one was devoted to heat generating plants in Poland. At the end the chairmen of the main Polish geothermal units shortly presented the history and the achievements of their organisations. The congress also shed some light on the scale of investment of the Polish governmental institutions in the geothermal energy . The authorities present at the event confirmed that much public funds will be allocated to the geothermal projects as it is considered to be the most prospective source of renewable energy.

Green Transfomration

As the whole world is supposed to turn green GK Processing also intends to participate in the green transformation preparing the field for the renewable sources of energy. The company has already been pretty active on the Polish market of geothermal services, cooperating closely with the biggest national geothermal company Geotermia Podhalańska. In July GK Processing’s focus on renewable sources of energy resulted in the contract signed with Hydreco Geomec B.V. for reprocessing of vintage 2D lines. The prospect of cooperation with the Dutch partner is much valued as the Netherlands is among the countries that invest the most in geothermal energy.

Barbórka 2019

As usual at the beginning of December the GK Processing team gathered to celebrate Barbórka. Since the size of the company is getting bigger and bigger, the friendly and cosy interiors of the Kuranty pub proved to be not sufficient to accommodate the growing number of employees. Therefore, this year the event took place in the Vidok restaurant which gave an unique opportunity to admire one of the most magnificent views of the Wawel Castle. The outstanding location of the restaurant and the broad selection of tasty dishes guaranteed a very good reception. The whole event was even more attractive thanks to an excellent concert played by Paweł Orkisz and his band. Their performance at Barbórka celebrations happens to be another company custom greatly appreciated by all participants.

DynamicsEquationsandApplications (DEA 2019) which was organised between 16th and 20th September 2019 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Cracow University od Science and Technology. The event hosted the participants form more than 50 countries located in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America. Altogether more than 400 talks were given and approximately 450 mathematicians from about 250 universities and research institutes from all over the world were invited. GK Processing R&D Team also took active part giving the presentation entitled: THE USE OF S-Guided CREP METHODOLOGY FOR ADVANCED SEISMIC STRUCTURE ENHANCING PROCESSING.

We have applied for the first time in history, static corrections that include influence of anisotropy with huge success in region of Poland with extremely complicated geology! Mateusz Zarebapresented our results for the industry and scientific body during the #InternationalConferenceonAppliedGeophysics in Ostrava. It was a part of our R&D project on Seismic High Definition Fracture Identification.

GK Processing sp. z o.o. was participating in 5th International Conferenceon Applied Geophysics in Ostrava 27-28 June 2018. It was a great opportunity to exchange the knowledge between industry and scientific world. GK Processing participates in the project Bańska PGP-4 run by Geotermia Podhalańska

GK Processing has been involved in projects concerning renewable energy form the very beginning. Currently, the company is cooperating with the oldest and the biggest geothermal enterprise in Poland, Geotermia Podhalańska. The corporation was established in the 1998 and since then it has been developing steadily. Presently the company is engaged in a quite challenging project Bańska PGP-4. It is planned to drill the 5 kilometres deep well which will be the deepest one in Poland. The water in the well is expected to be about 130 degree Celsius hot which can be sufficient to establish the first geothermal power plant in Poland. The project is supported by the NFOŚiGW with 45 million PLN. Part of the money will be spent on seismic researches. In order to facilitate the project GK Processing has been doing the 3D reprocessing which will provide very vital information allowing to specify the optimal location of the well. The survey has already been successfully completed. In the next step the fractures will be recognised with the help of the high definition anisotropy maps which currently have been the topic of research done by GK Processing R&D team.

The High Resolution Maps of Anisotropy

Gk Processing has been involved in the research project which is financially supported by the National Centre for Research and Development. The company R&D team has already completed the first stage of the project, namely data collection. One of the biggest Polish oil companies- Lotos as well as our main business partner Schlumberger got involved providing seismic data for advanced processing. Apart from the companies strictly engaged in the oil industry we also managed to get interest form the company dealing with the alternative sources of energy- Geotermia Podhalańska. This was a vital condition to provide data from many different sources as the technology can be crucial in numerous fields such as EOR, mining, shale gas, geothermal energy. Even at this research stage there are potential clients from different parts of the world and various branches of industry waiting for the commercial version of the technology

On the 1st of December in the restaurant Kuranty the meeting of the GK Processing employees was held to celebrate Barborka, a holiday traditionally gathering people involved in mining and exploration industry. The event was an occasion to appreciate the rapid development of the company and the achievements of its different departments. Although it lasted many hours the time seemed to fly thanks to the sentimental music played by Pawel Orkisz and a very sophisticated cuisine offered.
